Hi, I’m Ellen. I help stressed and anxious people apply the basics of yoga and meditation to create more resilience, wholeness, and vitality in their lives.
But I’m just like you—I struggle, too. Being a yoga instructor doesn’t mean I’m suddenly the most spiritual person in the room. I struggle with anxiety and stress, with questions about God, with forgiveness, and with injuries from my yoga practice. Just like you, I aim for harmony and balance in my life, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
I write about yoga and my personal practice. I write about my experience with teaching, in hopes that it may help someone else. I write about the angels, the universe, and God.
I come at this from a Christian perspective, because I was raised in the Methodist church. But I believe God meets us where we are—whether that’s a churchgoer or someone who has never been to church, someone who studies the bible or someone who has never opened one. I think we are all searching for meaning, and I hope this blog is a place where you can find it.
I have been teaching yoga for 16 years, since 2004.
I am certified to teach Hatha, Gentle, and Vinyasa yoga, as well as Meditation. I have a 200-hour YTT from The Spirit of Yoga in West Chester, PA; I also have a 500-hour YTT from The Kaivalya Yoga Method. Master Courses with Alanna Kaivalya, Ph.D.
I am certified to teach meditation. I have led several meditation classes (including Movement and Meditation) as well as a meditation sequence for Lent.
I am certified to teach Yin yoga. The Yin practice focuses on the fascia and connective tissues of the body and is a wonderful compliment to more active, vigorous forms of exercise. What is yin yoga?
I am a certified Reiki Level 1 practitioner. I can move energy with my bare hands! Which is awesome, because many of our troubles start with blocked energy in the body. What is Reiki?
I am certified in Chakra Therapeutics, which promotes healing by using the subtle energy of the chakras in the body. What are the Chakras?
I am an Intuitive Healer and Psychic Reader. I can do intuitive readings, angel readings, and soul readings.
I lead Yoga and Writing workshops, which combine yoga poses to unlock creativity with writing exercises to get your story onto the page. Recently I led a workshop on The Art of Journaling.
I have other bona fides, too: I have an MA in English composition from Virginia Commonwealth University. I’m currently writing a book of meditations. When I worked in the real world, I taught freshman composition, business communication, and English. I was also a stay-at-home mom for many years. But now my girls are launched into the world, and I’m starting a new phase of my life. The writer phase. Read, comment, enjoy.
